Finger Painting Again!

Remember this? Here's another finger painting activity which Le Xin did and we can tell she has used a very different technique to paint this time by just looking at her masterpiece at the end of it :)

I am ready to start......

The focused child - Sweet!

Mixing and exploring colours....

Le Xin started to laugh when she noticed that her two fingers were stuck on to the paper with white paint......

She held on to another side of the paper and removed her fingers, then she started laughing again :)
When Le Xin gets into a happy mood she will start to do funny things...

For e.g. putting all her finger into the small pot of paint.....

Whahaha I have decided to use all of five of you!

Good exploration Le Xin...

Mummy see, my hands are red said Le Xin

Let's do a final touch up!

Beautifully painted by my darling girl :)

I particularly love this work done by Le Xin because I like how she has explored the various colours and developed on her spatial orientation while painting. I guess each time she engages in finger painting, the first word that appears in her mind is FUN! There are so many benefits that come along with finger painting, fine motor skill is one, eye-coordination is another.  It also promotes self-expression, where children get to express their creativity using their imagination! The best part about finger painting is that it is EXTREMELY EASY Children usually enjoy the process because they could do it at their comfortable pace.

When Le Xin was painting, I do not comment on how she was painting because I value the process of her learning and I know my words will usually affect her so I just kept quiet and be an observer.

Try finger painting with your child too! It is suitable for any age group even for older infants who can sit upright :) Having said that, if your child is less than 3 always choose EDIBLE PAINT just in case your child pops the paint into his/her mouth :)

Ending this post with my a video of my darling girl.....

Sponge Printing

Here's a short art activity I did with Le Xin - Sponge Painting

Here's the materials we used. We bought the paint from Daiso!

Ohhhh.....let's start!

Squeezing out the paint from the tube....

Taking a look at the grass sponge....

Rubbing it on the plate before she continued with the printing....

Next, was red!

Rubbing a flower sponge.....

Pressing the sponge to form a print

Trying to print a yellow flower...

Such activity is engaging and I think most 3-year-old should be capable of  doing it on their own.
Why is there a need  for children to feel autonomous where they could be in control of their learning?

This is closely link with self-esteem. To me when children are in control, it boost their self-esteem, thus helping them to feel that they can succeed to complete a task by themselves.  They should be giving opportunities to decide, evaluate, rethink and simply make choices. Our role is to encourage, facilitate and guide, let them know that even if the task is too difficult, you are always there for them and wonders will happen :)

Gear Set from Mummy!

Here's the present MummyT2X bought for Le Xin for her birthday. I do not know what you call this in English because everything on the box was in Japanese so I decided to just call it the Gear Set, yahoooo~ Let's check it out!

Can't wait to open it......

DaddyScott showing Le Xin how to play with the gear set...

Le Xin switching on the gear set to find out how it works....

When Le Xin saw a scissor-like part moving, she attempted to put her finger in and she said giap  to herself haha typical Singaporean isn't she?... DaddyScott who was observing her, found it hilarious and started laughing away....

Since Le Xin was so intrigued by it, she decided to do that to her penguin too!
I pretended to be her penguin and  shouted NO!!!!!!!!!! and that has caused Le  Xin to laugh out loud.

Le Xin then looked up and asked Daddy Scott to try by putting his finger in between and he replied Of course not!, I do not want the scissor to giap my finger hahaha... What's up with the two of them? :p

Le Xin refused to give up and continue to pester DaddyScott to try and that made her really happy, just look at her face......Bless :)

Sometimes I wonder how a simple toy like this would make a child so happy, wait, let's think again.....Hmm, maybe it was the company, I don't think she would enjoy her time as much if DaddyScott wasn't around to play with her.

I am glad she likes this gear set that I have bought for her. I personally think this toy promotes creativity, the child will get to think of different ways to position the parts to make the entire gear set moves differently.

Sometimes it does kinda "clip" the finger if it's not fixed properly so an adult should be present but the clipping part is not painful. You can get this gear set too if you would like your child to have some fun with it, it is sold in Isetan. I bought our set in Parkway Parade. I think most boys will love it but I am just guessing though....ending this post with a video of DaddyScott and Le Xin  seeya :)

Bubbles Fun!

Luckly Le Xin, she has gotten another birthday present from Daddy Scott again!

This time it's her favourite Trillion Bubbles set :)

Yahoooo~ I can't wait to play with Daddy!

\
Preparing the bubble mix!

Showing Le Xin how to dip the equipment in...

This video shows how the bubble equipment works...

Let's try it :)

Wow, it's so fun!

We also gave her a straw to poke the bubbles.....

Then it was Daddy Scott's turn to have a go at poking the bubbles.....

There is always something magical about playing with bubbles.....Children are often thrilled to see bubbles in whatever situation and no matter how different the bubbles look like! I often connect bubble play with GOOD EARLY CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE and I certainly think every child should deserve that! So when your child is feeling bored, just bring him/her out and have some bubble fun :) Good bonding and instant happiness :)

This photo should convince you that what I have mentioned above is true whahaha agree?

Eating Long Gan for the first time!

Le Xin first learnt about Long Gan when I introduced her the topic on fruits.

Today, she has her first taste of this delicious fruit!

Here's the yummy Long Gan!

Wow quite a lot of me to pluck!

Hmm... let's feel the texture of the skin...

I will pluck them out one by one...

One...two...three... dropping the long gan in a bowl...

Looks like an egg

I am done said Le Xin

Wow, this is how the long gan looks like inside.....

Smells good too!

Feels soft.....

Let's try to remove the seed now...

So how should I do it?

Maybe I can try to peel it.....

Little Hands @ Work

Better pop it into my mouth before it's gone!

Wow.....Shiok :)

Le Xin had a great time, plucking, counting and exploring the long gan... She doesn't really fancy the taste of the fruit. She told me they were too sweet for her but she enjoyed the learning experience. I kept the branches for a follow up art activity.

Always expose children to different types of fruits and observe their expressions when they try eating those fruits for the first time haha :) Their curiosity is really something worthy to be documented!

Leaving you with videos of cutie Le Xin!
