Christmas Craft #1: Christmas Sock!

With Christmas round the corner, Le Xin and I decided to craft some Christmas decorations. We started with a simple Christmas sock. Firstly, I printed out a Christmas sock template from here. Then I got Le Xin to help me with the painting of the sock....

Le Xin had a great time painting the Christmas sock, she waved her small brush to and fro as she tried to fill up the space with the red paint.

Mummy was there to remind Le Xin not to "dig out" too much red paint...

Le Xin said Red as she was painting the sock.

Then Le Xin started squeezing some glue on the top part of the Christmas sock...

We went to the kitchen and got hold of some cotton wool and Le Xin pasted them onto the sock...

She was really good at it....she lay the first layer with the cottom wool and pressed them firmly with her hand :)

Then she added more glue for the second layer of cotton wool...

Le Xin was really focused in ensuring the second layer was evenly space out with cotton cool....

Pressing them firmly to the glue!

Next Le Xin looked for some pictures from the IKEA magazine so that she could have them cut out to decorate her Christmas sock......

Le Xin could share with me what she wanted to cut out......confidently, she used her training scissor to cut out the pictures...

Le Xin pasting her first picture - a Christmas Tree onto her Christmas sock....

Then she placed glue onto the second picture...

And pasted it  on her Christmas sock again.....

When Le Xin was done with all the cutting and pasting, it was Mummy's turn to help her cut out the outline of the Christmas sock.....Le Xin was really happy as she presented the first Christmas Craft work that she made!

The term "craft" refers to a set of activities that involve skill, innovation and dedication of the apprentice to produce a desired object. Craft is a combination of ideas and their practical viability to bring out an art piece. On various occasions, term craft is used to explain the artistic practices that are related to decorative arts.... Personally, I really enjoy each and every session  crafting together with Le Xin.....it's not just about the engagement but I really enjoy looking at how dedicated Le Xin was when she tried to use some of her ideas and mine to bring out the essense of the whole crafting experience...Just wondering how many mummies out there enjoy crafting with their kids like I do? haha!
